The Effect of the Reccession on Hotel industry in London
Thursday, June 25th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedLondon is the business centre of Europe and it is very lively as well. People come to london for one reason or the other. Some tourists may be in London for sightseeing purposes and other may be in the capital to complete business deals. The Buckingham Palace,Trafalgar, Piccadilly Circus, Houses of Parliament, etc. are some of the most visited Landmarks.London is one of the Cities where some people definitely want to do their shopping. London has many shops on the famous shopping streets in Europe; Oxford Street, Regent Street and Bond Street.
Businesses are scared to death on the negative effect of the world recession. Some businesses are laying workers off because of a lot of close downs. Retrenchment is seen her and there. The experts say that it will take quite sometime before we see the great Economies of the world booming once more. There is one industry which the Credit crunch has not affected. London hotel industry is my point of reference. What effects are we seeing on the London hotel industry? I have restricted myself to London hotels and bed and breakfast industry for the purpose of the article.
The current economic crisis do not seem to have an impact on the London hotels industry yet according to my little research. I have been working as a reservation agent for a long time with hotels, both big and small alike. Hotels in london and bed and breakfast continue to be busy to date from the time I started the research in August 2008.
All the hotels we have on our portal have their login details and they can log on to our system and close out dates they are full up. It is surprising that, hotels still get full up in the weekdays and during the weekends although we have credit crunch
.
London hotels industry was at the busiest between March and July in 2008. They were almost full each day. Our guests nowadays find it hard to get rooms booked through us because of too much close out dates. Some London Hotels are already full up for future dates. Availability situation in some hotels become so tight that, certain times, the hotels themselves have to look for room availability in other hotels. We cannot get rooms for our clients because hotels have closed out on our real time booking system.
Probably the weakness of the pound may be the reason why travellers are still coming to London. they get more value for their money when they travel to London or shop in London. That may be why the London hotel industry is still booming. It was not every month that the pound was week in 2008, however. Is it the popularity or the importance of London which that make it unavoidable in economic crisis? If in the near future the article will have to be rewritten due to more findings, I will not hesitate to do so. London guests wil gain in the form of low rates if the credit crunch hits the hotel industry. This is because they will be guaranteed special London hotel offers, cheap London hotels accommodation and also cheap London bed and breakfast rates. The Tavistock hotel London is an example of such hotels.
